An Anterior Approach for Resection and Advancement of the Levator.

چکیده
RESECTION and advancement of the levator palpebrae superioris gives the best functional and cosmetic result of any ptosis operation. As a rule, operation on the levator is indicated if there is a degree of function in this muscle. Myasthenia gravis, the myopathies, jaw-winking, and related anomalies of innervation are the exceptions to this rule. Bowman was perhaps the first to attempt correction of ptosis by resection of the levator, either by the conjunctival or by the skin approach (Bader, 1857). Nothing can be achieved by the posterior approach that cannot be achieved by the anterior approach. The latter is particularly indicated when the levator action is poor. It is the purpose of this paper to describe a simple technique for resection and advancement of the levator by way of an anterior approach.

Transcutaneous Blepharoptosis Surgery: Simultaneous Advancement of the Levator Aponeurosis and Müller’s Muscle (Levator Resection)
Transcutaneous blepharoptosis surgery with simultaneous advancement of the levator aponeurosis and Müller's muscle (levator resection) is a popular surgery which is considered effective for all types of blepharoptosis except for the myogenic type. Repair of ptosis cases with good levator function yields excellent results. A good outcome can be also obtained in cases with poor levator function, ...

Ptosis surgery has seen many advances in the last few decades, the most important of which have emerged as a result of better understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the eyelid and orbit. Anterior approaches such as a levator aponeurosis advancement, tarsoaponeurectomy and posterior repair involving resection of Muller's muscle have proven to be effective in most cases. The focus of this...
متن کاملTreatment of ptosis by levator resection with adjustable sutures via the anterior approach.
The authors describe a one-step anterior approach levator resection technique with intraoperative adjustable sutures. Forty-four ptotic eyes were divided into five groups, and the results of this technique were evaluated for each of these five types of ptosis. Our results show that it is not possible to predict the extent of a levator resection preoperatively from the assessment of the levator ...

Introduction:Neurogenic mediastinal tumors comprise a wide range of benign and malignant diseases. A group of these tumors, located at thoracic apex, sometimes spread to cervical spaces causing numerous surgical difficulties. In thoracotomy approaches, due to proximity of the tumors to major blood vessels, complete removal of these tumors from cervical spaces is impossible or may cause intraope...

PURPOSE To compare external levator advancement and Müller's muscle-conjunctival resection (conjunctivomullerectomy, or CJM) for correction of upper eyelid involutional ptosis. DESIGN Retrospective, nonrandomized, comparative interventional case series. METHODS Review of medical records of 159 patients (272 surgical procedures) who underwent external levator advancement or CJM was performed...
